Judge wants more data in trespass case
A Superior Court judge has asked for more research before deciding whether he should dismiss an unlawful trespass charge brought against a reporter who refused to leave a wind protest he was covering on private property. "I want to understand the law a little better than I do right now," advised Judge Robert Gerety Jr., following oral arguments on Thursday, January 26 in Orleans County Superior Court.
Superfund proposal revived for Lowell mine
The voters of Lowell and Eden will vote n Town Meeting Day whether to make the asbestos mine in these two towns a Superfund site, which would bring in federal money for cleanup. Cleanup could cost up to $500-million and might take ten yers. The site covers roughly 1,540 acres--about a square mile. Tailing piles are estimated at about 30 million tons.
Candidates file in Brighton, Barton, Newport
Newport and Brighton will have contested races, but Barton voters will see no competition on their Town Meeting Day ballot.
