MONTPELIER — Opponents of the Sheffield wind farm notified the Public Service Board Tuesday that they will take their fight to the Supreme Court.
Carol Brouha of Sutton said Tuesday that an attorney for the Ridge Protectors had filed a notice to appeal the board’s decision to grant UPC Wind a certificate of public good to construct a 16-tower wind farm.
Wednesday, October 31, was the deadline to appeal the decision to the high court.
Ms. Brouha said there was no document yet, but a $225 filing fee had accompanied the notice.
The law requires the notice to be filed with the board, which then has 14 days to forward the appeal to the Supreme Court.
Issues likely to surface in the appeal are the impact of the wind farm on the region’s orderly growth, and how noise from the turbines will adversely the neighborhood, including the private school at the King George Farm.
